Hollywood Elite Still Kicking Christian Beauty

E! Online asks, “Is Miss California the New Joe the Plumber?”

miss california carrie prejean

Still reeling from Carrie Prejean’s audacity of truth, Hollywood media types like E! Online writer, Leslie Gornstein, took a reader’s comment and pinned it as her story’s top centerpiece. The pro-traditional marriage bashing continues…

Now that Miss California has spoken out against gay marriage, is she the next Joe the Plumber or what? —Heather, Butte, Mont.

Gornstein leads after the reader comment:

If you’re asking whether anti-gay-marriage groups have wrapped their Jesus-lovin’ arms around Carrie Prejean’s perfectly tanned spine, the answer is: They certainly are trying.

Lawsuit? Dating Michael Phelps?

Uppity-ups in the Republican party also tell me Prejean definitely will be approached by some arm of theirs, though whether she’ll be game is another story. She may be too busy suing Donald Trump or (possibly) dating Michael Phelps to participate…

Gornstein, you obviously missed the part where Prejean said she will be praying for Perez Hilton and that she feels sorry for him. Hardly the opening salvo of an impending lawsuit. Phelps? I don’t get it. You must be striving for SEO (Search Engine Optimization)… or throwing in the bong factor.

Sorry, Gornstein, this particular blond is already a success story. No amount of dumb-beauty-queens-don’t-ever-make-it spin you give your readers will stick to this woman.

Is she the new Joe the Plumber? Please attempt giving this beautiful, intelligent woman some respect. It would be the right thing to do!

New petition aims to strike “marriage” from California law. Pro-life college students threatened with expulsion fight back. AND court asked to throw out suit against National Day of Prayer.

Prop. 8 Opponents Begin Effort to Strike ‘Marriage’ from Calif. Law

SACRAMENTO — (Christian Post) Proposition 8 opponents received permission Tuesday from the California Secretary of State’s office to begin collecting petition signatures toward a repeal of the state’s same-sex marriage ban.

The initiative would side step the issue of same-sex marriage by making all couples eligible for marriage benefits regardless of their sexual orientation. If approved, the initiative would strike the word “marriage” from all state laws and replace it with the term “domestic partnership.”

The measure would also repeal Proposition 8, California’s constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman… more

Washington college students threatened with expulsion for ‘discriminatory’ pro-life message

SPOKANE, Wash. — (ADF Media Relations) Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund Center for Academic Freedom filed a lawsuit Monday against Community Colleges of Spokane and Spokane Falls Community College officials for violating the constitutional rights of pro-life students. SFCC officials threatened Beth Sheeran and members of a Christian student group with disciplinary measures, including expulsion, if they chose to hold a pro-life event on campus to share information with other students because the message was “discriminatory” and did not include a pro-abortion viewpoint.

“Christian students shouldn’t be threatened, silenced, and discriminated against for attempting to share their beliefs on public college campuses,” said ADF Litigation Staff Counsel Heather Gebelin Hacker. “But this school goes beyond censorship to actually try to compel the students to make statements they don’t believe. Such a requirement is nothing short of Orwellian.”

SFCC Director of Student Funded Programs Heather McKenzie rejected Sheeran’s timely request to hold a pro-life event on campus on January 22, the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, that involved flier distribution and materials posted in an announcement display case in the student center. McKenzie said college policy prohibits one-sided events and expressive displays on campus and that the pro-life display would not be allowed because it did not include any pro-abortion viewpoints… more

ADF attorneys seek to dismiss lawsuit against National Day of Prayer

MADISON, Wis. — (ADF Media Relations) Alliance Defense Fund attorneys asked a federal court Monday to throw out a lawsuit that claims government-issued proclamations which call on citizens to pray are unconstitutional. The motion to dismiss–the second filed by ADF attorneys–comes in response to an amended complaint filed in the lawsuit by the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

“Prayer proclamations are a long-established and cherished American tradition going back to the Founding Fathers,” said ADF Senior Legal Counsel Joel Oster. “This is simply a ridiculous lawsuit and an example of one radical organization’s allergic reaction to anything involving God.”

The Freedom From Religion Foundation filed its suit against a number of government officials, including now-former President George W. Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle. The suit also names National Day of Prayer Task Force Chairperson Shirley Dobson, who is being represented by ADF attorneys… more
