‘Progressives’ divisive, backward in DC rally racist claims

Progressives see progressivism as an attitude towards the world of politics that is broader than conservatism vs. liberalism, and as an attempt to break free from what they consider to be a false and divisive dichotomy. – Wikipedia

Many self-proclaimed progressives and liberals turned ugly in the afterglow of the rally against out-of-control government spending in Washington D.C. Sunday, calling those in attendance “racist.”

While crowd estimates and reports range from 60,000 to 1.5 million, the event was significant enough to garner heavy Internet coverage, including a flowing stream of posts on Twitter. Tagged #912DC, the subject became a Twitter trending topic for most of the day.

However, while those in attendance and bloggers following on Twitter posted messages reflecting joy, pride, and excitement about the event also known as the “912 Project,” a flow of racist charges and sophmoric name-calling was evident.

It was not only “progressive” bloggers playing the race card. In one segment on CNN, the newsroom and bottom screen graphic asked viewers, “RACIAL UNDERTONES? with the subhead, “Tea Party rallies.”

But, perhaps nowhere is the ugliness more evident than on Twitter.

I thought it was really horrible, Beck using 9/11 to promote his own cause. It looked like a Klan or a Hitler rally. – RaiderNader

… libs think that thinking is important. Conservs want slavery returned & civil rights eliminated. – JimPolandcom

And so it went and so it goes … progressives being not so “progressive” after all. In fact, many in the anti-conservatism crowd have fueled any existing racism by perpetuating what most of us have always despised or eliminated years ago: lumping an entire group of people in a hateful way.

The ongoing chatter between so-called progressives had one Twitter member come up with a new “dictionary” definition for the online combatants:

Racer: (rā’sər) n. One who makes false claims of racism in order avoid answering legitimate arguments.

Progressives and liberals have always made us well aware of the hypocricy often found in conservatives’ alleged claim to the “moral highground.” Now, maybe it’s time for those with liberal leanings to abandon prejudice and crawl out of their dark caves.

Pentagon Bible Verses: Words of Mass Distribution?

Pentagon briefings during the U.S.-Iraq war during the time of Donald Rumsfeld included cover sheets that “juxtaposed war images with inspirational Bible quotes,” according to a GQ magazine online report.

The GQ story includes a slide show with a series of photos and Bible verses. One “top secret” cover shows photos of soldiers praying and in action on the sands of Iraq and overlaid with the Isaiah 5:28 verse: “Their arrows are sharp, all their bows are strung; their horses’ hoofs seem like flint, their chariot wheels are like a whirlwind.”

Student Wins Case Against Christian-Bashing Teacher

Orange County high school student, Chad Farnan, has won a lawsuit in which the court ruled Friday against a teacher who was shown to often use his classroom to attack Christian thought.

LA CHURCH & STATE EXAMINER EXCLUSIVE

In the Farnan v. Capistrano Unified School District case, Farnan, a sophomore at Capistrano Valley High School at the time, stated that his Advanced Placement European History teacher, Dr. James Corbett spends a good portion of each lecture attacking Christianity and other religions.

Farnan, who said he often prayed for his teacher, taped a lecture by Corbett in which he stated that “when you put on your Jesus glasses, you can’t see the truth.”

The judge in the case held that Corbett did violate an establishment clause by stating “an unequivocal belief that creationism is ‘superstitious nonsense,'” according to a press release from the group defending Farnan. The court went on to hold that Corbett’s statement “constitutes improper disapproval of religion in violation of the Establishment Clause.”

The Advocates For Faith and Freedom Law group’s statement on the case:

In reviewing hours of statements by Dr. Corbett, we believe he is violating the Establishment Clause of the U.S. Constitution by attacking religion, particularly Christianity, and creating a hostile environment for religious students. We have filed a lawsuit in an attempt to have the teacher removed from teaching this class and to establish precedent that will put teachers on notice that attacking students’ religious beliefs in class is a violation of law.

Following our filing of the First Amended Complaint, the School District and teacher filed a motion to dismiss the case. In opposing the School District, Advocates emphasized the need to interpret the First Amendment in such a way that protects Chad’s right to attend class without being constantly barraged with the teacher’s anti-Christian sentiments.

The Judge denied the School District’s motion to dismiss. Subsequently, the California Teachers Association filed a motion with the Court seeking to intervene on behalf of the School District and Dr. Corbett. The judge has permitted the intervention. Both sides filed a motion for summary judgment, asking the Court to rule in their favor. On May 1, 2009, the Court issued rendered a first-of-its-kind decision in Chad’s favor.

In a Web site Farnan setup to defend himself he previously wrote: “This was not an easy thing for me to do. As my family and I listened to the tapes of Dr. Corbett and his anti-christian views, we prayed for him everyday and hoped that he would stop.”

Hollywood Elite Still Kicking Christian Beauty

E! Online asks, “Is Miss California the New Joe the Plumber?”

miss california carrie prejean

Still reeling from Carrie Prejean’s audacity of truth, Hollywood media types like E! Online writer, Leslie Gornstein, took a reader’s comment and pinned it as her story’s top centerpiece. The pro-traditional marriage bashing continues…

Now that Miss California has spoken out against gay marriage, is she the next Joe the Plumber or what? —Heather, Butte, Mont.

Gornstein leads after the reader comment:

If you’re asking whether anti-gay-marriage groups have wrapped their Jesus-lovin’ arms around Carrie Prejean’s perfectly tanned spine, the answer is: They certainly are trying.

Lawsuit? Dating Michael Phelps?

Uppity-ups in the Republican party also tell me Prejean definitely will be approached by some arm of theirs, though whether she’ll be game is another story. She may be too busy suing Donald Trump or (possibly) dating Michael Phelps to participate…

Gornstein, you obviously missed the part where Prejean said she will be praying for Perez Hilton and that she feels sorry for him. Hardly the opening salvo of an impending lawsuit. Phelps? I don’t get it. You must be striving for SEO (Search Engine Optimization)… or throwing in the bong factor.

Sorry, Gornstein, this particular blond is already a success story. No amount of dumb-beauty-queens-don’t-ever-make-it spin you give your readers will stick to this woman.

Is she the new Joe the Plumber? Please attempt giving this beautiful, intelligent woman some respect. It would be the right thing to do!

Even before openly gay blogger and Miss USA judge, Perez Hilton, confessed that beauty pageant contestant, Carrie Prejean, lost a chance at the crown because of “the way Miss California answered her question,” on gay marriage, the sharks were circling.

Yahoo News declared a Miss California “awkward moment.”

“ABCNews.com paints her as the bad guy for offending the celebrity judge, while failing to mention that a majority of said beauty queen’s fellow Californians agree with her views,” wrote NewsBusters Managing Editor, Ken Shepherd.

Entertainment Weekly on its website: “Miss Cali did no service to womankind — much less the gay marriage movement — with her stumbling answer.”

And the sharks kept circling around Prejean, the 21-year-old blonde bombshell, who attends San Diego Christian College…

FoxNews.com reports:

Keith Lewis, who runs the Miss California competition, tells FOXNews.com that he was “saddened” by Prejean’s statement.

“As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman,” said Lewis in a statement. “I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit. I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family.”

When asked by judge Hilton, whether she believed in gay marriage, Prejean, said “We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”

So, this is what it’s come to…you can be beautiful in America and win beauty pageants, but you can’t win them if you don’t tow the liberal line. Get to the back of the bus, beautiful conservatives!

The message: beautiful women opposed to gay marriage, and who are in support of traditional marriage are not pageant crown material!

And when the heat gets too hot for many liberals, they revert back to name-calling.

NEWS.com.au: On a video blog on his website Hilton said, “She lost not because she doesn’t believe in gay marriage, she lost because she’s a dumb bitch!”

Tolerance? Hardly. Carrie Prejean, who has also modeled for E! Entertainment at the Academy Awards, should have not only been afforded more respect, but judges should now do a recount to check their consciences and vote for the Miss USA winner again.

If it was a traditional view of marriage that cost Prejean the crown, she is the winner through and through…regardless if she is wearing a Miss USA tiara or not.

‘Family Guy’ mocks being born again
American Family Association launches campaign to contact advertisers

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — (WorldNetDaily) The “Family Guy” cartoon program on the Fox television network, targeted earlier by a campaign to notify the Federal Communications Commission of its sexually suggestive content, now is in the crosshairs of another campaign urging people to contact its advertisers.

WND reported last week when the American Family Association set up a campaign for viewers to contact the FCC in protest of the program’s sexually explicit theme. Tens of thousands of complaints were submitted in just the first day over the March 8 episode, which was rated by the network as appropriate for 14-year-olds, included multiple references to homosexual sex and featured discussion of an “11-way gay orgy.”

Now the Florida Family Association has set up a link for consumers to contact the program’s advertisers directly with their concerns over the nature of the cartoon.

It cited the March 8 program content but also noted the cartoon’s attack on Christianity in the March 29 episode. …more

Notre Dame Response: Obama’s Selection Prompts Student Prayer Rally

NOTRE DAME, Indiana (LifeSiteNews) — The University of Notre Dame’s student-formed coalition, Notre Dame Response, has announced plans for its first official demonstration in answer to the administration’s selection of President Barack Obama as its 2009 commencement speaker.

The group plans a prayer rally Sunday, April 5, 2009 at 2 p.m., held in front of the University’s Main Building following the noon Palm Sunday Mass at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.

The student coalition was formed in response to the University’s announcement earlier this month. The University also plans to award the President an honorary doctor of laws degree during the commencement exercises.

“These faithful students need the prayerful support of everyone who is concerned that the damage done to Notre Dame’s Catholic identity by honoring President Obama will be irreparable,” said Patrick Reilly, President of the Catholic education watchdog, the Cardinal Newman Society. …more

WSJ: The Treatment of Bush Has Been a Disgrace

George Bush’s crown is no longer in question. Sarah Palin is back in Wasilla, Alaska, still fielding gotchya hate…and she will soon be mocked only occasionaly. Her challenge of Bush’s crown is over…

…and Bush remains the most mocked politician ever.

This from the Wall Street Journal:

Earlier this year, 12,000 people in San Francisco signed a petition in support of a proposition on a local ballot to rename an Oceanside sewage plant after George W. Bush. The proposition is only one example of the classless disrespect many Americans have shown the president.
