Virginia Governor Tim Kaine takes This Week’s Top Scrooge honors for not defending the freedom of speech rights of police chaplains in his state. Instead, he succumbed to church and state paranoia and opposed chaplains who pray “in Jesus’ name.”

Here’s a short letter a friend of mine wrote to Kaine:
Affiliation: Private Citizen
Subject: Praying in Jesus’ name
Dear Governor Kaine,
Please rescind your “non-sectarian prayer policy”. This country was founded as a Christian nation. One of its foundations is freedom of speech, and another is freedom of religion (not freedom “from” religion). Your policy is un-American, unconstitutional and un-Christian.
I’m keeping it short and sweet this week. The full story as well as contact information can be found at Virginia Police Chaplains Resign Over No Jesus Policy.
