‘Holy Bible’ nearly photo-shopped out of ‘Soul Surfer’

BIG HOLLYWOOD – JOHN NOLTE: This might be the most revealing anecdote about the intolerant culture of present-day Hollywood in, well, ever. Get this: some genius producer at Sony digitally removed the words Holy Bible from a Holy Bible in a scene because he thought the sight of a Bible might hurt the film’s appeal beyond the Christian community — probably because he’s projecting and assuming everyone’s as bigoted as Hollywood. After some pressure from the family on which the film is based, he did put it back, but who thinks this way (he asked himself rhetorically). Good grief, there are all kinds mainstream films today where you see glimpses of various social and political symbols.

Air Force Academy sued for inviting Christian speaker

This from the Christian Examiner…

COLORADO SPRINGS — An advocacy group and five co-plaintiffs have filed a lawsuit against the Air Force Academy after a Christian lieutenant was invited to speak at a prayer luncheon.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) filed suit in Denver federal court January 31, calling the event unconstitutional and a violation of the so-called separation of church and state. Five faculty members at the Colorado Springs-based academy have joined the suit as “John Doe” plaintiffs, which also seek an injunction to block the event.

The lawsuit contends that the purpose of the interfaith luncheon is to emphasize “recognition of the spiritual values upon which our Nation is founded” but by inviting 1st Lt. Clebe McClary, an openly Christian speaker, “the Government has promoted, elevated, endorsed and favored Christianity over all other religions.”

“McClary’s book [Living Proof] contains statements that are purely religious in nature and it is expected that his speech at the Prayer Luncheon will follow suit,” the complaint said.

Former marine Lt. McClary is scheduled to speak at the National Prayer Luncheon at the academy on Feb. 10.

Lt. Clebe McClary is a highly decorated disabled Vietnam veteran who has received the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts.
