Inconvenient Intelligence

DAY 2: War on Reason Quote of the Day
Second in a Series of Quotable Attacks on Upcoming Ben Stein Movie

Today’s quote comes from the EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed website.

BTW…I recently had some links to the movie’s site censored because they were posted in a social network discussion group “without explanation.”

Hmmmmm.

“Elite scientists have looked at what evidence there is and have rejected this nonsense out of hand ? it’s not that they will lose their jobs or grants and so on ? it’s that they’re rational, thinking, people who understand science. Plugging “goddidit” into areas we don’t yet understand isn’t science. It’s childish thinking.”

Facebook group plans attack on EXPELLED!

From Protest Ben Stein’s Expelled group:

Help educate the public about science. Don’t let a loud-mouthed, deluded, has-been actor pretend to be a “rational” voice for the community.

Oppose Ben Stein’s schlockumentary, however you choose: correct friends & family who start to fall into the ID trap, write editorials, write or contribute to blogs, hand out fliers, contact movie critics & educate them, or lead debates on campus.

Stay tuned! A blog hosting a To Hell with Expelled Blog Carnival!

War on Reason Quote of the Day

First in a Series of Quotable Attacks on Upcoming Ben Stein Movie

Today’s quote comes from a blogger responding to a suggested link to Ben Stein’s EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed.

Ben Stein lost any ounce of respect I had for him when he went into the whole tirade about God being removed from schools being the cause of violence in schools.

It was the most ludicrous, ridiculous, nonsensible and unlogical thing I’ve ever heard a man of his supposed intelligence say, even from a religious stand point it made no sense.

Ergo, I feel that your link to something his says in reply to why science – and not religion – is taught in school is absolutely irrelevant.

And no, hun, tons of scientists have not proven creationism – a RELIGIOUS concept as scientifically valid.

If it was scientifically valid, it wouldn’t be a RELIGIOUS concept, it would be a SCIENTIFIC theory.

- “Anok”, blogger in social network discussion group

From the movie’s website:

“It’s (EXPELLED) going to appeal strongly to the religious, the paranoid, the conspiracy theorists, and the ignorant –– which means they’re going to draw in about 90% of the American market.”

-Atheist blogger and fabulist PZ Myers, on a film he has not yet seen.

“This movie will be a travesty. It will not make money. It will be ridiculed everywhere. This will go down as Ben Stein’s folly. Why don’t you read a biology book instead of pandering to the right-wing nutjobs?”
