Tough way to earn $38 million: publish the book of your son’s ‘alleged’ murderer

Yes, Fred Goldman has not received a dime from O.J. Simpson despite winning a $38 million wrongful death judgment against him. However, getting the rights to O.J.’s book “If I Did It” and then publishing it as a way of retribution seems a bit odd.

This from Associated Press:

LOS ANGELES – The sister of Nicole Brown Simpson on Tuesday called for a boycott of the O.J. Simpson book “If I Did It” about the slaying of Simpson’s ex- wife and her friend Ronald Goldman.

Denise Brown said she was “shocked and horrified” to learn that a literary agent for the Goldman family had reached a deal to publish the controversial book.

In a prepared statement, she said she couldn’t bear that her sister’s two children “will have to be subjected to this step by step manual on how their mother and her friend Ron were murdered.”

Brown’s condemnation came a day after Los Angeles-based literary agent Sharlene Martin of Martin Literary Management announced a deal to publish “If I Did It” with an as-yet unnamed New York publishing house.

Hypocrisy?

The book will be published with Simpson’s original manuscript intact and include commentary, Wright said. The Goldmans, the publisher and Martin will contribute portions of sales proceeds to the newly formed Ron Goldman Foundation for Justice to help victims of violent crime, he said.

The new plan to publish “If I Did It” came months after HarperCollins dropped the book because of public outrage.

Last month, a federal bankruptcy judge awarded rights to the book to Goldman’s family to help satisfy a $38 million wrongful death judgment against Simpson.

In her statement, Brown accused Goldman’s father, Fred Goldman, and other family members of hypocrisy for publishing a book that he had called “disgusting and despicable” when Simpson first planned to publish it.

Utah Mine Owner: Families of Trapped Miners Find Strength in God

Prayer for miners

Every reporter asks in cases of surviving or waiting-on-news family members of tragedies, “What keeps you going?” Yet, rarely do we see the answer in the headlines and the leads. Of course, a news service like The Christian Post will not mince words.

This from The Christian Post Today:

Families of Trapped Utah Miners Find Strength in God

The co-owner of the Utah mine that collapsed more than a week ago praised the families of the six men still trapped, saying that “their strength has come from their belief in their God.”

The search for missing coal miners moved toward the back of a mine Tuesday, the ninth day of what one official called a “heartbreaking” ordeal.

Although there has been no sign of the six miners since the Crandall Canyon Mine in central Utah caved in, mine co-owner Robert Murray reported that there were reasons to hope they might still be alive.

and the bottom line…

“They’re holding up extremely well,” Murray said. “Their strength is amazing, and I think it comes from their belief in their God.”

Pedophile Blogger Arrested Near UCLA Day Care Facility

Some days…the news is not all bad. This guy has been taunting the press and anyone who would listen for a long time. Maybe, just maybe, he’ll be verbalizing his perverted justification of his twisted thoughts to the four walls of a jail cell for a long, long time.

This from AP:

LOS ANGELES — A man who blogs about his attraction to young girls but says he doesn’t touch them was arrested Monday near a university child care facility with a camera, police said.

Jack McClellan, 45, who is unemployed and lives out of his car, was arrested at 1:40 p.m. at the University of California, Los Angeles, campus police said in a statement. He was arrested near the university’s Infant Development Program, which provides onsite care for children 3 months to 3 year sold and serves faculty, students and staff, according to the university’s Web site.

McClellan violated a restraining order requiring him not to loiter or congregate within 30 feet of minors, police alleged. He was released and scheduled to appear in court Sept. 13.
